BRIAN D. RUDD

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

Brian Rudd completed his Ph.D. training with Nick Lukacs at the University Michigan, where he first became interested in the host response to infection. He went on to become a postdoctoral student at Oregon Health & Science University under the mentorship of Janko Nikolich-Zugich. As a postdoctoral fellow, Brian investigated age-related changes in the immune system at the extreme ends of the lifespan and was the recipient of a K99/R00 ‘Pathway to Independence’ award. In 2011, he was recruited as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Cornell University, and in 2018 he was promoted to Associate Professor.  In recognition of his lab’s research accomplishments, Brian was recently named Associate Professor of Empire Innovation.

Brian is happy that he gets to work and play in beautiful Ithaca and the surrounding Finger Lakes. On the weekends, he can be seen chasing his son around the local parks and trails.
