2nd year graduate student
Scarlett grew up in both Texas and NYC, and received her BS in biology at Yale University. After which, she spent a year at the NIH completing a postbac studying the biochemistry of microbial sporulation, cementing her love for research. She then completed her DVM at Cornell focusing on production animals and public health, which allowed her to pursue research in Thailand and at the WHO.
Her thesis is in conjunction with the Vanderven lab and aims to further characterize the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis both from the host and pathogen side.
In her time outside the lab, she likes to enjoy as much sunshine as Ithaca allows, run and do other exercise, travel, and try out new recipes.
