Kristel J. Yee Mon
4th year graduate student
Kristel is a 3rd year Graduate student in the Rudd Lab. She went to secondary school at St. Joseph's Convent in the Caribbean, then got her undergraduate degree at New York Institute of Technology in New York City while doing research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, and City College of New York.
Her current research focuses on post-transcriptional genetic regulation of the neonatal and adult T cell response to infection. She is looking at how the age of a T cell influence different genetic regulatory patterns in the functionality of a T cell during acute infection.
Kristel is an island girl- born and raised in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago! She loves all things sun, sea, and sand including waterfall hiking and coral reef snorkeling but when she can't do that, she love photography, reading supernatural fiction, and writing haiku poetry!
Fun facts: Kristel once thought she was going to travel the world by being a diplomat and environmental activist for the Caribbean before she fell in love with all things science & research ❤ She is also the widely sought out selfie & social media queen of the Rudd lab 😃 😃
